Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that a blast occurred near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station around 7 PM on Sunday, resulting in injuries to pedestrians and damage to several vehicles. In an official statement, Shah said the explosion took place in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal, and preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives.

He said, “Within 10 minutes of receiving information about the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot. The National Security Guard (NSG) and National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), have begun a detailed investigation. Orders have been issued to examine all nearby CCTV cameras.”

The Home Minister added that he had personally spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Special Branch in-charge, who are currently at the site. “We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all angles into account. All options will be investigated immediately and the results will be presented to the public,” Shah stated.

Amit Shah also announced that he would visit the blast site and the hospital where the injured are being treated.
