Following the explosion near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, Delhi, NCR, and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh have been placed under high alert, with extensive security measures being implemented across key regions.

The blast, which killed eight people and injured at least four others, including three critically, has prompted an immediate and coordinated response from multiple law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

In Delhi, police have sealed the blast site, and teams from the Special Cell, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and dog squads are on the ground collecting samples. Traffic around Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, and Daryaganj has been diverted, and patrolling has been intensified near railway stations, bus terminals, and metro hubs.

The Delhi Police Commissioner has convened an emergency meeting with top officials to review security protocols, while CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being analyzed to identify any suspicious movement prior to the explosion.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, ADG (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash confirmed that the DGP has issued orders to strengthen security across district borders, religious sites, and major public areas. “All police stations have been directed to increase night patrols and vehicle checking. Sensitive cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, and Meerut are under close surveillance,” he said.

The NCR region, including Gurugram and Faridabad, has also been put on alert, with the Haryana Police working in coordination with central intelligence agencies to monitor movements near Delhi borders.

The explosion’s proximity to a high-security zone and the scale of damage have raised concerns about possible terror links, though police have not yet confirmed the nature of the blast. Experts have pointed out that the blast intensity was far greater than that of a standard CNG explosion, suggesting the possible use of high-intensity explosive materials.

As of now, emergency response teams remain deployed at the site, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information on social media.
