The odd-even rule, which was to be implemented from November 13 (just after Diwali), has been postponed by the Delhi government for the time being. Recently, considering the level of pollution in Delhi, the Kejriwal government has decided to implement the Devine system from November 13, which has been postponed for now.

In fact, after the continuous rains in Delhi, there has been some improvement in the air in Delhi, after which the government has taken this decision. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that if the situation becomes serious in future, then it will be reconsidered.

“We are postponing the Odd Even of 13-20 Nov, will review again after Diwali and take a decision. We are also waiting for the written decision of the Supreme Court, will study it and take further decision,” said Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai.

Also, the Minister Goapl Rai has initiated a campaign namely ‘Light lamps, not firecrackers’, in order to create awareness among people before the festival of Diwali. The campaign has been initiated as every year after Diwali, Delhi’s air quality gets worse due to burning of fire crackers.

The Environment Minister launched this public awareness campaign by saying: “Public participation is necessary to reduce pollution.”

Earlier, the Delhi government had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that the odd-even was correct. The government cited a scientific study and said that it has had a positive effect. The government said that this has reduced congestion on the roads. The government told the Supreme Court that the odd-even scheme has reduced fuel consumption by 15%. Use of public transport has increased during Odd-Even.

The Supreme Court hearing was also held in this matter today, i.e. on Friday. The Delhi government told the Supreme Court that the findings of the DIMTS report largely indicated the positive impact of reduction in air pollution contributed by vehicles, besides reduction in congestion on Delhi roads as well as odd-even driving.

The share of public transport increased during the period.
