Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed an application seeking a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the renewal of his passport, as per reports from ANI. The request comes in the backdrop of the ongoing Delhi excise policy case in which Kejriwal is currently under judicial custody.
The Rouse Avenue court has issued notices to both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), seeking their response to Kejriwal’s plea. The matter has been scheduled for further hearing on June 4.
Kejriwal’s counsel informed the court that his personal passport had expired in 2018, and the application pertains to its renewal rather than the issuance of a fresh passport. The legal team has requested the court’s clearance in view of the procedural requirement for renewing a passport while under custody.
Kejriwal was arrested in March in connection with the alleged money laundering and corruption charges related to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
