Delhi: Earthquake tremors felt around NCR

NCR has felt Mild tremors in NCR around 10.46pm

On Monday night a mild earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter Scale was felt in the area of Haryana followed by Delhi and NCR as well. The National center of Seismology department tweeted that the Tremor felt was of 3.7 Magnitude at Haryana’s Jhajjar.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.7, Occurred on 05-07-2021, 22:36:54 IST, Lat: 28.70 & Long: 76.65, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 10km N of Jhajjar.”

As per the official sources just now said that, the location of the earthquake was some 45 km from Haryana’s Gurgram and 54 km from New Delhi.

The EMC department also took his official Twitter handle and tweeted, “#Earthquake (#भूकंप) possibly felt 2 min ago in #National Capital Territory of Delhi #India.”

Delhi also lies at the close to a Faultline, which is susceptible to big earthquakes, as per geologist. From April 12 2021, till now the Delhi National Capital Region has recorded over two dozen earthquakes.

The city also falls under seismic zone IV – a very high-risk zone.

The experts have also said that, If an earthquake of magnitude 6 strikes Delhi, a large number of structures which do not follow safety norms are likely to be demolished.
