Lt Governor Anil Baijal has announced that government offices in the national capital Delhi would stay closed in honour of Guru Ravidas’ birth anniversary. According to an official announcement issued by the lieutenant governor of Delhi, all government offices under the government of Delhi will be closed on February 16th to commemorate Guru Ravidas’ birth anniversary.
According to the official declaration, the previously proclaimed limited holiday on February 14th in honour of Guru Ravidas’ birthday has been cancelled. The precise year of Guru Ravidas’ birth is unknown, however, it is largely assumed that he was born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in 1377 CE, on Magha Purnima.
