Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has addressed people in the wake of flood situations in the national capital.

While speaking to ANI, Kejriwal said, “I would like to request people to not step out if it is not essential and resort to Work From Home. We have closed the schools in affected areas. We are also trying to provide all facilities at the relief camps…As per the CWC prediction, the peak (of river Yamuna’s water level) will reach by 3-4 pm today and it will then start going down.”

One of the worst affected area in Delhi is near Red Fort were water has reached chest level. The water level of Yamuna river was recorded at 208.62 meters by 1pm today as Hathnikund barrage in Haryana continues to release water into the river. The current level is three meters above the danger level.

The Arvind Kejriwal led AAP government has urged central government to step in and stop the water discharge, but the centre replied that excess water from the barrage had to be released. The water discharge is expected to reduce later in the day.

After a meeting with Delhi Disaster Management Authority, CM Kejriwal ordered closure of all schools and colleges till Sunday. Government employees, except those in emergency services, have been asked to work from home. Private offices have also been advised to move to the WFH option.
