The severe cyclonic storm “Dana” over the northwest Bay of Bengal has been moving north-northwestwards at a speed of 13 kmph during the past three hours. As of 10:30 PM IST on October 24, the storm was centered near latitude 20.30° N and longitude 87.20° E, approximately 50 km east of Paradip (Odisha), 60 km south-southeast of Dhamara (Odisha), and 170 km south-southwest of Sagar Island (West Bengal).

Cyclone Dana is expected to continue its north-northwestward trajectory and cross the north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Islands, close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamara (Odisha), during the midnight of October 24 to the early hours of October 25. The storm is likely to hit the region with wind speeds of 100-110 kmph, gusting up to 120 kmph. Authorities remain on high alert as the cyclone approaches.
