In response to the looming threat of Cyclone ‘Dana,’ Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo announced that the state government is in full preparedness to tackle the potential impact, particularly in the energy and agriculture sectors. He confirmed that all relevant departments have been alerted, and necessary instructions have been issued to officers across the state.

Speaking on the state’s preparedness, Singh Deo stated, “Leaves of all officers have been cancelled, and they have been instructed to remain on high alert.” He also emphasized that the Meteorological Department is still uncertain about the exact path of the cyclone, making it challenging to project the areas that will be most affected. However, the cyclone is estimated to head towards North Odisha, with the districts of Kendrapara, Balasore, and Bhadrak likely to face the brunt of the storm (via ANI/X)

The Deputy CM added that other coastal districts, including Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Ganjam, are expected to experience heavy rainfall. In light of this, basic advisories have been issued to agricultural officers, district collectors, and local authorities to ensure that rainwater is quickly evacuated to prevent any potential damage to crops and infrastructure.

Singh Deo assured the public that the state is taking every precaution and urged citizens to stay informed and follow the government’s advisories as Cyclone Dana approaches.
