The 3rd Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) stationed in Mundali, Cuttack, successfully cleared a tree that had fallen on a house in Jaguleipada Village in Kendrapara District, Odisha. The team swiftly responded to the situation as Cyclone Dana continues to approach the Odisha coast.
The severe cyclonic storm “Dana” over the northwest Bay of Bengal is moving north-northwestwards at a speed of 13 kmph. As of 10:30 PM IST on October 24, the cyclone was located 50 km east of Paradip (Odisha), 60 km south-southeast of Dhamara (Odisha), and 170 km south-southwest of Sagar Island (West Bengal).
Cyclone Dana is expected to make landfall between Puri and Sagar Islands, near Bhitarkanika and Dhamara (Odisha), between midnight on October 24 and the early hours of October 25. The storm is expected to bring wind speeds of 100-110 kmph, gusting up to 120 kmph.
