A doctor was arrested by the Three Town police, Andhra Pradesh for allegedly running a COVID-19 care centre without authorisation. Dr Murali Krishna who was arrested was found to be running a hospital and providing treatment to patients without permission from the government. An official raid was held on August 23 which revealed these facts. The care centre also charged an exorbitantly high amount of fees.
Officials seized some case sheets, rapid test kits and injections, worth some lakhs of rupees and seized the hospital.
Demanding criminal action against the accused, BJP Yuva Morcha State RTI Cell convenor Adidam Vamshi Krishna had lodged a complaint with the Union Home Ministry on September wherein he stated that 13 COVID-19 patients under treatment in the place died due to poor treatment and had charged more than Rs 10 lakh from some patients. The Union Ministry has ordered the Assistant Secretary and Joint Secretary to respond on this matter.
According to the West Godavari district Superintendent of Police K. Narayan Naik, a case has been registered against Dr Murali Krishna under Section 420 IPC.
