New Delhi, former media executive Indrani Mukherjea who is in jail since 2015, accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora tells CBI that Sheena Bora is alive in Kashmir after being told to her by a woman in prison who claims to have had met Sheena Bora in Kashmir. However, Indrani Mukherjea’s lawyer Sana Khan says, “She wrote to the CBI, we have no details of what she wrote”.
Indrani Mukherjea, 50, has been imprisoned in Mumbai since 2015 for the murder of her 25-year-old daughter. The accused was arrested in August 2015 by Mumbai Police. Three months after her arrest, Peter Mukherjea, Indrani’s husband was also arrested by the police for being involved in the case. However, in 2020 Peter Mukherjea was released on bail.
Shyamvar Pinturam Rai, Indrani’s driver and Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani’s former husband, were also arrested for allegedly helping the accused in killing and burning of the corpse of Sheena Bora.
Investigators say that Indrani murdered her daughter Sheena Bora for being in an relationship with Rahul Mukherjea, her husband Peter Mukherjea’s son. Where as, Indrani Mukherjea claims Sheena Bora moved to US in 2012 for her higher studies as a result of being chased by Rahul Mukherjea after she went missing on 24 April 2012.
