IREO MD Lalit Goyal arrested by ED in judge bribery case

Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Lalit Goyal, the MD of IREO Group on 4th July, 2023 under PMLA, 2002 in the case of Judge Bribery.

The ED announced the arrest via a Twitter post.

On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Lalit Goyal, the managing director of real estate development company IREO, in a money laundering case linked to a corruption case against suspended Haryana judicial officer, Sudhir Parmar.

The money laundering case stems from an FIR filed by the Haryana Police’s Anti-Corruption Bureau in April against former special CBI-ED judge Sudhir Parmar, who was posted in Panchkula, his nephew Ajay Parmar, and Roop Kumar Bansal, the promoter of another realty group M3M, and others.

The ED has arrested Ajay Parmar, the nephew of Sudhir Parmar, and Basant Bansal and Pankaj Bansal, two directors and ‘key managerial persons’ of the M3M group.

As per the ACB’s FIR, Parmar was suspended on April 27, after being booked on April 17, has been accused of alleged favouritism in his treatment of real estate developers Roop Bansal and his brother Basant Bansal of M3M and Lalit Goyal of IREO Group.

The ACB FIR was registered on the basis of “reliable source information”, WhatsApp chats and audio recordings of the accused, according to people familiar with the investigation against Parmar.

Goyal was also previously arrested by the ED in 2021 in another money laundering investigation.
