Congress calls in to meet Lok Sabha MPs prior to today’s Parliament Session

Congress and other opposition parties have announced a boycott of the Rajya Sabha for the rest of the session unless the suspension is revoked.

Congress has called a meeting of its Lok Sabha MPs before the commencement of the Lok Sabha session on Tuesday. The session at the Lower House will begin from 3 pm today.

The opposition has declared these bills as “anti-farmer” and three Rajya Sabha MPs have also been suspended for the current session for creating an uproar in the house when the Bill was passed.
Rajya Sabha had passed Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, yesterday. Rajya Sabha has also passed Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020, today.

The party on Monday, in a meeting with members of the auxiliary committee, the general secretaries, and the state in-charges, and announced that it will take to the streets, launching a mass movement across the country from September 24 to demand the withdrawal of the agriculture Bills.

Veteran Maharashtra leader Sharad Pawar today announced a one-day fast in support of eight Rajya Sabha members suspended.
“I will not eat anything today in solidarity with the protesting members,” Sharad Pawara Rajya Sabha member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said.
