Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh police exhumed the buried body of a suspected gangrape victim girl two months after she ended her life by committing suicide. A few days ago, the alleged rape victim’s father tried to commit suicide. The incident reported in the Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh. Police have arrested 5 of the 7 rape accused and the investing is in progress. the body was dug out in a probe to the case.
However, the victim’s family alleged that the incident happened 2 months ago and the police delayed the registration of FIR.
“A day after the rape, when she was alone at home with her siblings, she hung herself. We brought her down and tried arranging for an ambulance, but she died. Since her parents were not in the village, we did not cremate her but buried her in everyone’s presence. The police called us a few days later and said they are registering an FIR, but the accused continued to roam freely for months,” the girl’s uncle said.
“Her body was exhumed from the grave on Wednesday for autopsy in presence of a police team and the tehsildar. A case of gang rape has been registered,” he added.
However, the alleged inaction of police is been criticized and questioned by the people after the alleged Hathras gangrape case.
