During the discussion of The Aircraft (Amendment) Bill, 2020, in the Rajya Sabha initiated by DMK MP P Wilson said, “Chennai is one of the major metropolitan cities but it doesn’t have an international airport like that of Delhi or Hyderabad. I request the govt let Chennai airport be developed to international standards.”

Talking about the government’s decision to give Air India to private sector, TMC MP Dinesh Trivedi also said that “I must compliment govt for bringing back a lot of Indians from abroad under Vande Bharat Mission. And who did it? It was Air India. You can change the structure of Air India if you want but please don’t sell it. Air India hai to Hindustan hai.”

NCP MP Praful Patel also added that airlines are financially stressed due to COVID-19 and needs support.

The upper house of the parliament which started its session in shifts from Monday onwards due to COVID-19 has introduced as many as five bills, including on reduction in the remuneration of ministers and protection of healthcare professional in epidemic.
