Central Railway issues statement on King Circle Railway Bridge incident

The Central Railway has issued a statement regarding the incidents at the King Circle Railway Bridge. Early Wednesday morning at 3 am, a truck collided with the sacrificial height gauge installed ahead of the actual height gauge at the bridge. Later in the morning, another vehicle hit the actual height gauge.

A railway employee was immediately deployed to the site to prevent further incidents by ensuring that vehicles exceeding the height limit do not attempt to pass. The Central Railway confirmed that restoration work on the damaged height gauge is planned for tonight to ensure the bridge’s safety.

According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), a bus attempting to pass beneath the bridge struck the gauge, damaging its air conditioning unit and causing a gas leak. However, the bridge itself did not sustain any structural damage. The authorities are taking measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
