
The UP police went to Punjab to grab the custody of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Mukhtar Ansari, on Tuesday, April 6. Also, the security at UP’s Banda has been beefed up. Three UP police teams have been sent to Punjab via three different routes in order to secure the custody of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who was lodged in Punjab’s Ropar jail. Even in the Ropar jail, heavy securities were implied in order to abandon any chaos.
Punjab’s prison minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has said, “Ansari would not be given any special treatment. He will be handed over to the UP police and will be treated like other criminals,” as quoted by TOI.
A police contingent comprising of PAC Jawans, an ambulance with a team of doctors, pharmacists, paramedics from Banda district hospital, a GPS enabled VajraVahan, and three police jeeps have been given the responsibility to take the BSP MLA to the UP jail, as per the reports of TOI.
Mukhtar Ansari is a politician from Uttar Pradesh. He has been charged with 52 cases in the state, 18 out of them pertain to the IPC section-302. He has been lodged in Punjab’s Rupnagar jail since 2019 in connection with an extortion case.
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting at his residence. He has been updated with every piece of information related to the happenings. The DGP of the state has also been called over to the residence.
