The meeting has been conducted to choose the new Chief Minister for Uttarakhand since ex-CM Tirath Singh Rawat stepped down late on Friday night having a tenure of only four months.

Before the legislature party meeting which will begin at 3 pm, the team of central observers will meet the state BJP leadership.

An anonymous BJP leader stated the front runners for the top post were Satpal Maharaj and Dhan Singh Rawat. As per the leader, names such as lawmakers Ritu Khanduri and Pushkar Dhami are included. The final decision would be made only after the central leadership’s approval.

Regarding the statements given by a Congress leader, the Union Agriculture Minister said, “The job of Congress is to make only allegations. There is zero positive thinking in the Congress Party. They have no right to speak on the internal matter of the BJP.”

Several Congress leaders have criticized the BJP’s political instability in Uttarkhand following the resignation of Tirath Singh Rawat.
