Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran stated on Tuesday at a virtual event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron that Air India will buy 250 planes from Airbus, including 40 wide-body jets. The Tata Group-owned airline will purchase 40 A350 wide-body jets and 210 A320 narrow-body planes. According to Chandrasekaran, a letter of intent has been signed with Airbus to purchase the aircraft.
“We have built a very good relationship with Airbus.” “Today I am happy to announce that we have signed a letter of intent to acquire 250 aircraft from Airbus,” Chandrasekaran said.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi stated that the agreement represents India’s growing connections with France, as well as the triumphs and goals of India’s civil aviation sector. He stated that India and France are constructively contributing to problems ranging from Indo-Pacific security and stability to global food security and health security.
“Through our Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), remote parts of the country are being connected through air connectivity, which is boosting the economic and social development of people,” PM Modi said.
He also noted that new prospects in aircraft manufacturing are emerging as part of India’s “Make in India, Make for the World” strategy.
Macron stated that the agreement between Air India and Airbus demonstrates that the French aircraft giant and its partners are completely committed to developing new areas of cooperation with India.
“We have achieved so much with India. “We’ve historic opportunity to go much further, given the potential of Indian people,” he added.
Macron also invited Indians to visit France and participate in the Franco-Indian relationship.
“The end of the pandemic should lead to more exchanges between our two countries.” “Students, scientists, artists, businessmen, women, and tourists are all most welcome to France, and I encourage Indians to come and be part of this French-Indian friendship.”
