In the wake of the tragic Air India flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad, Western Railway has announced two special trains to facilitate the movement of affected passengers and families. One train will operate from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, and another to Delhi, depending on demand.

The Disaster Management Team of Western Railway is actively involved in rescue and relief operations at the crash site, working in close coordination with state authorities.

A medical team from WR and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have already been deployed for on-ground support and assistance.

Western Railway has assured that additional trains may be arranged based on future requirements, as efforts continue to support those impacted by the tragic incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the crash of Air India flight AI171, calling it “heartbreaking beyond words.” In a statement on social media platform X, he said, “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected.”

The crash involved a Boeing 787 Dreamliner headed to London Gatwick and occurred shortly after takeoff, triggering a massive emergency response near Ahmedabad’s Meghani Nagar area. The aircraft was carrying 242 people, and rescue operations are currently underway.
