About 13.5 crore people lifted out of poverty in last 5 years: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Business 20 (B20) Summit India 2023 in the national capital, suggested that a day in a year should be observed as ‘international consumer care day.’

On August 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Business 20 (B20) Summit India 2023 in the national capital, suggested that a day in a year should be observed as ‘international consumer care day.’

The B20 is the G20’s official forum for discussion with the global business community. The theme of the summit is B20 India R.A.I.S.E: Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable, Equitable Businesses.

The Prime Minister said that the festival season in India began on 23 August with Chandrayaan-3 reaching the Moon, and pointed out that India has an effective role to play in an effective global supply chain.

He stated that India became the face of Industry 4.0 revolution and the future of global growth dependent on the future of business.

The Prime Minister further added that India increased vaccine production and saved crores of lives during COVID pandemic and they were focusing on green energy, trying to replicate the success of solar energy in green hydrogen. He also said, “About 13.5 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in last 5 years.”

Businesses have been asked by the Prime Minister to focus on ‘consumer care’ rather than celebrating consumer rights only.

B20 Summit India brings together policymakers, business leaders and experts from around the world for deliberating and discussing the B20 India Communique.

54 recommendations and 172 policy actions are included in the B20 India Communique to submit to the G20.

This summit was scheduled to be held from August 25 to 27. The theme of this three day summit is R.A.I.S.E – Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable and Equitable Businesses. Over 1,500 delegates from around 55 countries are attending this summit.
