3 LeT terrorists killed in encounter at J&K’s Shopian district

Three terror associates affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter in the Badigam area of Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone confirmed that all three terrorists killed in the Shopian encounter were affiliated with LeT.

Kashmir Zone Police in a statement said that incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. “Further search is underway,” police added.

An encounter between security forces and terrorists broke out at the Badigam area of Shopian on Thursday night.

A Special Police Officer (SPO) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and three terrorists were killed in separate encounters between security forces and terrorists in Kashmir on Friday, police said.

A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed and another policeman injured after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Budgam district on Friday.

The development comes at a time when a delegation of envoys including those from several Europe Union countries and a few member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation visited Jammu and Kashmir to take a first-hand account of the ground situation.

The delegation’s two-day visited started on Wednesday.
