
India’s most wanted and Mastermind of Pathankot Air Base Attack, Shahid Latif, has been murdered in Pakistan. Unknown assailants shot him dead in a mosque in Pakistan. He was killed in Sialkot city of Punjab province of Pakistan.
In 2016, there was a terrorist attack on the airbase of Pathankot in Punjab. This attack was carried out by the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed. Seven soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred in this attack. NIA investigation had revealed that Shahid Latif was the mastermind of this attack.
The NIA investigation also revealed that the Pathankot terrorist attack was planned and executed in Pakistan. Terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed had trained and sent four suicide bombers to carry out the attack. NIA investigation had found that the masterminds and handlers of the terrorists who infiltrated into Indian territory to carry out the attack were all based in Pakistan.
It is notable that Shahid Latif was arrested in India in 1993 on terrorism charges. He was prosecuted and sent to jail. Shahid Latif was imprisoned in an Indian jail for about 11 years. After completing his sentence in India, he was sent to Pakistan in 2010. NIA investigation has said that after being deported from India, Shahid Latif had gone back to the Jihadi factory in Pakistan and played an important role in the Pathankot terrorist attack.
