The Animal Welfare Board of India has published an odd circular as people get ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day. February 14 should be recognised as “Cow Hug Day,” according to the board.
In a statement released on Monday, February 6, the board emphasised the advantages of having a cow and noted how it serves as the foundation of the rural economy of the nation “We are all aware that the cow represents cattle wealth and biodiversity, is essential to Indian culture and rural economies, and sustains our way of life. Because of its feeding quality akin to mother, the giver of all, and its provision of riches to humanity, it is known as “Kamdhenu” and “Gaumata.””
According to the Animal Welfare Board’s statement, western civilization is to blame for the extinction of Vedic customs. As a result, individuals are encouraged to embrace cows in order to increase emotional richness and personal and societal well-being.
Due to the development of western civilization over time, Vedic customs are nearly dead. Our physical culture and traditions have all but been forgotten because of western civilization’s glitz, according to the statement.
The announcement from the Animal Welfare Board also noted that “all cow lovers may also observe February 14 as Cow Hug Day bearing in mind the significance of mother cow and creating a happy and positive energy-filled life.”
Valentine’s Day is observed worldwide on February 14. Extremist parties on the right have been campaigning against it, claiming that such celebrations are not a part of “Indian culture.”
Between February 4 and February 28, in anticipation of Valentine’s Day and Shiv Ratri, restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC will be in effect in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Greater Noida areas.
