Tensions continue to escalate along the Line of Control (LoC) following India’s precision strike operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), 13 civilians have lost their lives in Poonch, and 59 others have been injured, with 44 of those injuries also reported in Poonch, as a result of ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army.

The XP Division of the MEA issued a statement confirming these figures, stressing that the violations were a direct response to India’s targeted military action earlier this week.

Earlier, Pakistani forces were reported to have launched heavy mortar shelling into the Karnah sector of Kupwara district, marking the second consecutive day of cross-border aggression. Shelling began shortly after midnight and targeted civilian areas. The Indian Army responded swiftly and effectively, preventing further casualties.

This latest exchange comes in the aftermath of India’s high-profile airstrikes on nine major terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), targeting groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. India has stated that over 80 terrorists were neutralized, including high-ranking operatives and family members of Jaish chief Masood Azhar.

While Pakistan has claimed 26 civilian deaths and dozens of injuries on its side, India maintains the operation was measured and non-escalatory, solely aimed at terror infrastructure.

The situation along the LoC remains volatile. Further updates are awaited from official sources.
