On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet government approved a raise in Dearness Allowance which was given to central government employees, the hike is raised from 17 percent to 28 percent. As confirmed by the sources that the Union Cabinet has taken a decision to raise DA after it was delayed since last year.
It has shown the development is a major relief for lakhs of central government employees who have been waiting for the announcement for a decade.
It has also been like a move that has been on the back of several media reports on the speculations on that for a dearness allowance which benefits under the Seventh Central Pay Commission and it is now approved to be restored by the end of July.
Besides, it is still not clear if the central government will be given the hike in the allowance from September as such approved by the cabinet.
Thus, the previous report suggested that it might take a while for the employees to get the raise in DA because there have to be several approvals required. For such delays, the central government employees are likely to get dues for accruing from July 1, 2021.
It was also assumed that at least three DA installments were due before the hike and later were approved by the cabinet. About 11 percent DA hike has been approved by the part of the three pending installments that are yet to be confirmed.
