There is something interesting about Japanese cities’ old lanes and wooden houses. Japan is a gorgeous country with a great history and culture. However, the country has its fair share of mysterious sites and haunted lanes.
Here are 5 of Japan’s most mysterious places that will send shivers down your spine
1. Suicide Forest
Even sunlight struggles to get through the dense, twisted forest of Aokigahara, which is eerily silent. Renowned as the “suicide forest,” hundreds of individuals have killed themselves in the forest; in fact, the government has placed cards and information about suicide prevention across the area
2. Round Schoolhouse
This is an abandoned home, still surrounded by snow. Miners used to live in a nice and exciting place. However, as the miners left the region, the school was abandoned. The place is creepy now.
3. Inukane Pass Tunnel
Tunnels can appear creepy even without the presence of ghosts and ghouls! The dark and dirty structures are perfect for crimes, as happened to a little girl a few decades back. The girl was murdered and never laid to rest in peace, and she is believed to have haunted the tunnel ever since, making it one of Japan’s most haunted areas.
4. Oiran Buchi Bridge
This bridge has a horrible past! According to legend, several miners murdered around 55 prostitutes on the bridge many years ago. People in the region claim to have heard women’s calls for help.
5. Camp Hansen
During World War II, Japan suffered significant destruction and deaths. Camp Hansen in Okinaw’s Kunigami area was once a US Marine Corps base, but it is now one of the most haunted sites in the country. According to reports, a lone soldier arrives in bloodstained clothing and asks for cigarettes from passersby. Following several similar claims, Gate 3 of the camp was closed.
