People all around the world have perhaps given a colossal kickstart to their creative skills in order to combat the 2020 pandemic – a local restaurant in Madurai have recently introduced a COVID-19 themed menu that ranges from all the way to the ‘Surgical mask Paranthas’to the ‘Coronavirus Dosas’. A special ‘herbal drink’, is one of their latest offerings on the menu.
The district has experienced a rapid spike in the Covid-19 cases, due to which the lockdown restrictions have been implemented rigorously throughout the region.
As per the WION, the owner of the restaurant Kumar said, ‘ From yesterday morning we have started selling these new dishes and they are available for take-away only, because of the current government restrictions. We didn’t expect that they would go viral in a day. We hope to revive the business as the last few months have hit us really hard’. He further shared that they frequently revamp the design of the food products every now and then to withhold the interest of their customers. They have experimented all the way from offering a bat-shaped dosa after Sachin Tendulkar scored 100 tons, and also a ‘Rasi-dosa’ cooked using the ingredients suitable specifically to one’s Rashi (Zodiac). Kumar also shared with WION that, “Our idea is to create a small impact and awareness via the food we serve.”
“Usually during the lockdown, we have a demand for only 50 sets of parottas, but now the demand has shot up nearly ten times. Parottas are generally sought after at night, but now the demand is high even from the morning,” Kumar informed WION. Perhaps, seems like COVID-19 turned out to be a blessing for this out of the box hotelier.
