The stage is set, invitations have been set and the bride is ready to steal all the light. Yes, today is the day when Prachi Tehlan will tie knot with Delhi-based businessman Rohit Saroha in an intimate ceremony. But what will the actress be wearing on her big day?
Well, it’s a gorgeous outfit designed by the ace fashion designer Sahil Kochhar, who owns a brand under his name. “We have planned a red coloured Zari lehenga with traditional zardozi embroidery and a variation of our signature 3D multilayered floral appliqué embroidery on a gold base, presenting a combination of two varied renditions of traditional zardozi embroidery,” Sahil elaborates.
When asked about the experience of creating a dress for the most important day of Prachi’s life, Sahil said, “Prachi is beautiful and gorgeous but what I really admire about her is that she is independent, decisive and knows exactly what she wants. So that really helped us design a special outfit for her.”
Sahil has time and again been appreciated for his designs worn by Bollywood actresses and starlets like Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, Tapsee Pannu, Diana Penty, Jhanvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan among many others. His brand specializes in unconventional textures and embroideries.
Speaking of the process of making the outfit, he said, “We view each step of the process as an art in itself, from the silhouette to the motifs. In developing the motifs we turn to archives of art – from the greatest works to the most obscure, to nature and the golden symmetry of meadow and foliage. So, while designing Prachi’s outfit, we made sure that we take forward our signature work, an extension of our aesthetics which would sit aptly for the wedding day,” Sahil added.
The designer further revealed that Prachi was very clear about the colour of her dress. “She wanted something in red so we suggested the work and embroidery which we thought would sit well as per her likings. Each element from thread to bead is deliberately placed and as you step back the ensemble comes to life as living art to be cherished for a lifetime. And it took 60-70 days to prepare the same.”
Complimenting the overall look of the dress would be statement jewellery designed by Archana Agarwal. She was the part of India Couture Week for last 2 years and done Blenders Pride Fashion Tour also. Her masterpieces are characterized by intricate craft, spectacular designs and undeniable glamour. Sharing her joy of contributing to make Prachi’s wedding day special, Archana said, “Prachi is a popular name of the industry and people love her – not just for her work but the charismatic personality she has. I wanted her to wear something that compliments her personality and looks great with the beautiful wedding dress. Every piece that I have designed for her is a style statement.” She added, “My label is a celebration of today’s woman who is feminine yet strong, and I believe, Prachi is an idol epitome.”
