Poet Vimal Mehra’s “Agni-Samadhi” Unveiled: A Tribute to Chittorgarh’s Heroic Legacy

A grand literary event was held at Bal Niketan School, Jodhpur, to unveil senior poet Vimal Mehra’s narrative poem Agni-Samadhi, which chronicles the valiant tale of Chittorgarh’s first Saka (battle) and Jauhar (self-immolation). Organized by the Society for Creative Satisfaction, the gathering featured prominent literary figures, with senior critic Dr. Ramakant Sharma presiding.

The poem was unveiled by dignitaries, including chief guest Dr. Haridas Vyas and storyteller Hari Prakash Rathi, who praised Mehra’s work for its metrical brilliance and emotional depth. Society president Dr. Sunil Mathur welcomed attendees, while secretary Kamal Sharma reflected on the society’s 25 years of creative contributions.

The poet was honored with garlands, a turban, and a memento. Mehra recited excerpts from Agni-Samadhi, which drew appreciation from the audience. Highlighting the tradition of preserving history through poetry, Rathi noted, “This work deserves a place in every household.” Chief guest Dr. Vyas emphasized the balance between metrical discipline and emotional expression, praising Mehra’s poetic skill.

Vimal Mehra, known for his song collections Gaa mere mann gaa and Milan suron ki bansuriya, continues to contribute to the preservation of India’s rich poetic heritage.
