Switzerland’s annual inflation rate slowed to 0.1% in October, edging down from 0.2% in September and coming in below market forecasts, data from the Federal Statistical Office showed on Monday.

On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell 0.3% to 107.2 points, driven by lower prices for hotels, international package holidays and private transport rentals. However, prices for clothing, footwear and housing maintenance rose during the month.

Core inflation, excluding food, energy and fuel, declined 0.2% month-on-month and increased 0.5% year-on-year.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was flat from the previous month and up 0.1% from a year earlier.
