The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed today, May 20, Monday, on account of voting in Mumbai for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Trading across all segments, including equity, equity derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), currency derivatives, and interest rate derivatives, will be suspended throughout the day.


However, the commodity derivatives segment will observe a split session. It will remain closed during the morning session from 9 am to 5 pm but will operate in the evening session from 5 pm to 11:55 pm.

Normal trading on both the stock exchanges, NSE and BSE, will resume on May 21.

In the special trading session on May 18, the domestic markets extended their gains for the third consecutive session. The Sensex closed 0.12% higher at 74,005 points, while the Nifty rose 0.16% to 22,502 points. Broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices.

Investors and traders are advised to plan their transactions accordingly and stay updated on the resumption of trading activities on May 21.
