Vodafone Idea (Vi) has reduced the validity of its affordable prepaid plans, impacting users who rely on short-term recharges. The telecom company has adjusted the ₹189 and ₹98 plans, offering the same benefits but for fewer days.

The ₹189 plan, which earlier offered 28 days of validity with 1GB of data, unlimited calling, and 300 SMS, will now come with 26 days of validity. At the same time, Vi has slightly sweetened the deal by offering 2GB of data instead of 1GB. The revised validity is reflected on Vi’s official website and Paytm, although PhonePe still shows the plan with 28 days.

Similarly, the ₹98 plan has been cut down in validity. Previously valid for 14 days with unlimited calling and 200MB of data, the plan now lasts only 10 days, according to Telecomtalk.

For users exploring alternatives, Vi’s ₹218 plan offers one-month validity with 4GB of data and free SMS, while the ₹95 plan comes with 4GB of data, 14-day validity, and a complimentary SonyLIV subscription—making it more attractive for short-term users.

The revision indicates Vi’s strategy to push average revenue per user (ARPU) higher, even as it continues to trail peers Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel in subscriber additions.
