VA Tech WABAG Ltd, a prominent water treatment company, saw its shares increase by 2.87%, trading at ₹1,753.60 on the NSE after winning a major ₹1,000 crore contract from Indosol Solar Pvt Ltd. The project involves constructing a seawater desalination plant at Indosol’s manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.
The desalination plant, with a capacity of 100 million liters per day, will support Indosol Solar’s 10GW solar manufacturing unit. The project is expected to be completed in 38 months, followed by a 15-year operation and maintenance agreement. This marks WABAG’s entry into the solar photovoltaic sector, highlighting the company’s expansion into new areas while showcasing its technological expertise.
Saravanan Krishnan, head of desalination at WABAG, expressed appreciation for Indosol’s trust in WABAG for this critical project, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing cost-effective water solutions through advanced desalination technologies.
