Gensol Engineering Limited, a key player in solar power engineering and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) services, has recently secured a large-scale contract with a major public sector utility in Maharashtra. This INR 780 crore project involves setting up a 150 MWac ground-mounted solar PV power plant, which is expected to be completed over a 15-month timeline.

Under this contract, Gensol will manage the project from start to finish, covering all aspects from land acquisition to the design, engineering, procurement, and logistics. Additionally, they will handle the manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the grid-connected solar PV power plant. The scope of the project includes developing the necessary power evacuation infrastructure to connect to the STU substation. The agreement also includes a three-year commitment to operations and maintenance, covering essential aspects such as the switchyard and transmission infrastructure.

Commenting on the project, Shilpa Urhekar, CEO of Solar EPC at Gensol Engineering Ltd., shared, “We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us by one of India’s leading public sector utilities. This project is a significant step in supporting India’s clean energy transition, aligning with our commitment to the right energy mix. We look forward to collaborating with the state of Maharashtra to enhance India’s renewable energy goals.”

The project aligns with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s policy introduced in April 2022, which seeks to advance Maharashtra’s energy infrastructure and support India’s sustainability goals. The awarding of this contract reflects Gensol’s proven capabilities and growing expertise in delivering renewable energy solutions on time.
