Shares of Patel Engineering Limited climbed more than 2% after the company was declared the Lowest Bidder (L1) by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited for Package-1 of the prestigious Renuka Ji Dam Project. The contract, valued at ₹910.08 crore including GST, significantly strengthens the company’s order book in the infrastructure and hydropower segment.
The Renuka Ji Dam Project is located at Village Dadahu, Tehsil Renuka, in District Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. The project is scheduled to be completed within 30 months and is considered a major initiative aimed at enhancing water storage capacity, ensuring reliable water supply, and supporting hydropower generation in the region.
Under Package-1, Patel Engineering will undertake the construction of three diversion tunnels, each with a diameter of 9.5 metres. The tunnels will measure 1,379 metres, 1,468 metres, and 1,590 metres in length, respectively. In addition to the tunnelling work, the scope includes the development of three inlet and outlet portals and the construction of nearly 6 kilometres of access roads to facilitate project logistics and operational movement.
The contract also covers the installation of hydro-mechanical gates for the diversion tunnels along with instrumentation works. These elements are critical for ensuring controlled diversion of water during dam construction and maintaining long-term structural safety and operational efficiency.
