
On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, all Indian marketplaces will be closed due to the Dussehra (Vijaydashmi) celebration.
According to information on the exchanges’ websites, trading on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be suspended for the whole session on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
According to the schedule of stock market holidays for 2022 on the official website of BSE, there will be no trading on Wednesday in the equity, equity derivative, and SLB segments.
Additionally, trade in the segments for currency derivatives and interest rate derivatives will be halted today.
While the first half of trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed, trading will begin in the second half at 5:00 pm (evening session) on October 5.
Along with today, the NSE and BSE exchanges will be closed twice more for Diwali in the final week of this month on October 24 (Monday) and October 26 (Wednesday).
Even then, according to information shown on the exchanges, there won’t be any activity in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment, or SLB Segment on the stock market holidays.
On the strength of encouraging global indications, the Indian markets on Tuesday reversed Monday’s losses to close more than 2% higher. Nearly all frontline indexes had intense buying interest as the BSE Sensex soared nearly 1300 points and the Nifty50 finished very close to the 17300-mark.
The BSE Sensex increased by 1,276 points or 2.25 percent to 58,065 at market closing on Tuesday, while the Nifty50 increased by 386 points or 2.29 percent to 17,274 levels. Even the broader markets rose, with the Nifty mid-cap rising by more than 2.5% and the small-cap up by more than 1.5% at the closing.
At the close, 48 stocks were up and 2 were down on the Nifty50 index. IndusInd Bank, which increased by more than 5% during the entire session today, was followed by Adani Ports, which increased by more than 4.5%, and Bajaj Finance, which increased by over 4.5% on the NSE at the close.
