Nifty staged a sharp comeback from its intraday lows and managed to close above the 24,700 mark. At the close, the Sensex advanced 409.83 points to finish at 80,567.71, while the Nifty gained 135.45 points to settle at 24,715.05. However, several major stocks ended the day in the red.
