The Indian stock market witnessed a sharp decline on January 9, with both benchmark indices closing in the red. The BSE Sensex fell by 528.28 points, or 0.68%, to settle at 77,620.21, while the NSE Nifty dropped 162.45 points, or 0.69%, to end at 23,526.50.
