Indian benchmark indices closed lower for the second consecutive session on January 6, with the Nifty slipping below the 26,200 mark. The Sensex ended the day down 376.28 points, or 0.44%, at 85,063.34, while the Nifty declined 71.60 points, or 0.27%, to settle at 26,178.70. Despite the broader weakness, select heavyweight stocks provided support and managed to close in positive territory.
