Indian equity markets ended the volatile February 2 session on a firm footing, with benchmark indices posting solid gains and the Nifty closing near the 25,100 mark. The Sensex surged 943.52 points, or 1.17%, to settle at 81,666.46, while the Nifty added 262.95 points, or 1.06%, to close at 25,088.40.
The rally was led by a broad-based recovery across select index heavyweights, with power, auto, infrastructure, and capital goods stocks featuring prominently among the top gainers.
Among Nifty constituents, Power Grid Corporation of India recorded the highest percentage gain of the day, ending 7.4% higher at ₹270.0.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles closed 5.6% higher at ₹364.0, while Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone gained 4.3% to finish at ₹1,402.5.
Shares of Bharat Electronics ended the session up 3.6% at ₹440.8. Tata Consumer Products and Hindalco Industries both closed 3.1% higher at ₹1,121.1 and ₹936.1, respectively.
Reliance Industries advanced 3.0% to close at ₹1,388.0. In the same session, Mahindra & Mahindra and Adani Enterprises ended 2.7% higher at ₹3,455.0 and ₹1,995.0, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro was also among the top gainers, closing 2.6% higher at ₹3,914.0.
