Indian equity benchmarks ended December 23 on a flat note after a highly volatile session. The Sensex slipped 42.64 points, or 0.05 percent, to close at 85,524.84, while the Nifty 50 managed to edge up by 4.75 points, or 0.02 percent, settling at 26,177.15.
