The Nifty 50 closed at 23,123.65, up 155.40 points or 0.68%, while the Sensex ended at 74,616.58, gaining 509.73 points or 0.69%. Bank Nifty underperformed slightly but still closed in the green at 52,716.25, up 0.20%.
Among sectoral performers, IT stocks saw broad-based buying, while metals and telecom stocks also contributed to the upside.
Top Gainers (Nifty 50)
Wipro emerged as the top gainer, closing at ₹204.9, up 3.9%.
Hindalco Industries followed, ending at ₹955.5, higher by 3.0%.
HCL Technologies closed at ₹1,441.8, gaining 2.7%.
Tata Consultancy Services also rose 2.7% to settle at ₹2,541.4.
Infosys ended at ₹1,340.1, up 2.6%.
Bharti Airtel closed at ₹1,832.3, advancing 2.2%.
JSW Steel settled at ₹1,156.7, up 2.0%.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation gained 1.8% to close at ₹286.9.
Tech Mahindra ended at ₹1,473.7, up 1.7%.
Hindustan Unilever closed at ₹2,118.4, rising 1.6%.
Overall, gains were led by IT stocks, with metals and select index heavyweights also contributing to the upward movement in the indices.
