Indian equity markets ended on a firm note on April 15, with benchmark indices closing higher amid broad-based buying across sectors. The rally pushed the Nifty 50 above the 24,200 mark, while the BSE Sensex also posted strong gains, reflecting positive investor sentiment through the session.
The Nifty settled at 24,231.30, up 388.65 points or 1.63%, while the Sensex closed at 78,111.24, gaining 1,263.67 points or 1.64%. The Bank Nifty ended at 56,301.95, higher by 696.90 points or 1.25%. Broader markets outperformed, with the Nifty Midcap index rising 283.20 points or 2.13% to close at 13,552.65.
Among the top gainers on the Nifty pack, InterGlobe Aviation led the rally, ending 4.4% higher at ₹4,620. Power Grid Corporation followed with a 4.2% gain to ₹313, while Eternal ended 4.1% higher at ₹246. Max Healthcare Institute also advanced 4.1% to ₹990.4.
Wipro closed 3.5% higher at ₹210, and HDFC Life Insurance gained 3.4% to settle at ₹640. Tech Mahindra rose 3.3% to ₹1,482, while Tata Consultancy Services added 3.2% to close at ₹2,552.8. Hindalco Industries ended 3.1% higher at ₹1,009, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles climbed 3.0% to ₹356.
The gains were seen across sectors, with IT, metals, financials, and healthcare stocks contributing to the upward momentum in the market.
