Indian equity indices closed in the red for a second straight session on August 28, with both Sensex and Nifty slipping under pressure. At the close, the Sensex declined 705.97 points, or 0.87 percent, to 80,080.57, while the Nifty dropped 211.15 points, or 0.85 percent, to 24,500.90. Top Gainers
Despite the overall weakness, select heavyweights and sectoral leaders managed to end in positive territory. Titan Company rose 1.1 percent to ₹3,632, while Coal India added 0.7 percent to ₹375. Hero MotoCorp gained 0.7 percent to ₹5,106.6 and Larsen & Toubro closed 0.6 percent higher at ₹3,564.1. Maruti Suzuki advanced 0.6 percent to ₹14,798, followed by Axis Bank up 0.5 percent at ₹1,055.6. Adani Enterprises closed 0.4 percent higher at ₹2,282.1, while Reliance Industries and Asian Paints both gained 0.4 percent, ending at ₹1,390.9 and ₹2,490 respectively. Bajaj Finance inched up 0.2 percent to ₹878.1.

Top Losers
On the losing side, Shriram Finance was the worst performer, slipping 3.9 percent to ₹571.3. HCL Technologies declined 2.9 percent to ₹1,450.2, while Power Grid fell 2.0 percent to ₹274.2. Tata Consultancy Services ended 1.9 percent lower at ₹3,098 and Tata Consumer Products dropped 1.8 percent to ₹1,060.2. Infosys shed 1.7 percent to ₹1,503, Hindustan Unilever lost 1.4 percent to ₹2,653.8, and Jio Financial Services slipped 1.4 percent to ₹311.3. Among banking majors, ICICI Bank was down 1.3 percent at ₹1,397.6 and HDFC Bank fell 1.2 percent to ₹961.8.
