The Nifty 50 index made history today, crossing the 26,000 mark for the first time, reaching an all-time high of 26,011.55. The surge was largely driven by a strong performance in metal stocks, with the Nifty Metal Index climbing nearly 3% following China’s economic stimulus efforts.
The Nifty Metal Index saw significant gains, with National Aluminium leading the charge, rising by 6.05%. Other major contributors included NMDC (4.46%), Tata Steel (4.42%), Vedanta (3.96%), and SAIL (3.56%).
As of 2:54 PM, Tata Steel was the top gainer, trading at ₹160.70, up 4.36%, while the biggest loser was Hindustan Unilever (HUL), which dropped 2.39% to ₹2,956.05.
The Nifty Metal Index showed exceptional performance, surging to 9,741.55, up 3.03%.
