The Nifty 50, India’s benchmark stock market index, reached the 23,000 mark for the first time in early trade on Friday, May 24. The index opened at 22,930.75, up from its previous close of 22,967.65, and quickly rose by 0.2 percent to hit a new all-time high of 23,004.05.

However, the excitement was short-lived as the Nifty 50 soon erased all its gains and slipped into negative territory. This milestone reflects the ongoing volatility in the market and the cautious optimism among investors.

Around morning, the Sensex was up 155.62 points or 0.21 percent at 75,573.66, and the Nifty was up 35.20 points or 0.15 percent at 23,002.9.
