Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders is likely to be in focus after the Ministry of Defence (MoD) approved the commencement of negotiations with a German company for the ₹70,000 crore submarine project under the P-75(I) programme.

The project, one of the biggest under India’s defence modernisation plan, aims to boost the Navy’s underwater strength through the construction of advanced submarines with modern propulsion systems and stealth features. Mazagon Dock, being the country’s leading shipbuilder for such projects, is expected to play a pivotal role once the negotiations are finalised.

Analysts believe the development could be a significant positive for the company, given the scale of the project and its long-term revenue visibility. The approval marks another milestone in India’s efforts to enhance self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
