The Indian markets were trading flat with a positive bias on Wednesday, on the back of mixed global cues.
The S&P BSE gained 72 points at 38,910 levels and the Nifty50 index hovered around 11,500-mark. Bajaj Auto (up 3%) was the top Sensex gainer, followed by PowerGrid, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Bajaj Finserv (all up 2% each). On the other hand, Bharti Airtel dipped 1 per cent in early deals.
Can Fin Homes surged 8 per cent after announcing its June quarter results.
All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty Auto index, up 1.6 per cent.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap as well as the SmallCap index were both up 0.5 per cent each. Bata plans to open 100 stores in FY21.
On the results front, a total of 31 companies, including Indraprastha and Gillette India, are scheduled to announce their June quarter results today.
